Plan a ski trip 2026/27: season dates, transport and roaming

Choose dates around the ski sector that will operate, rather than the name of the wider ski area alone. Find announced 2026/27 dates, official transport sources and a planning order for passes, baggage and mobile data. Sources checked: 25 October 2026.

KitzSki: Planned operating times 2026/27Full ski connection: 11 Dec 2026–29 Mar 2027Resterkogel planned from 6 Nov: weekday training, public skiing at weekends. This is not the opening of the whole area.

Val Thorens: Ski area opening 2026/27Val Thorens–Orelle: 21 Nov 2026–2 May 2027Full Les 3 Vallées season is shorter: 5 Dec 2026–18 Apr 2027. Match your pass and dates to the area.

Our suggested ski-trip booking order

  1. Match the sector and dates to operating times first. For early or late dates, allow flexible terms and an alternative plan.
  2. Plan accommodation, station/airport and final transfer together. For flights, check sports baggage separately; cabin-bag dimensions say nothing about carrying skis.
  3. Choose the pass around the actual ski days and area. KitzSki multi-day tickets generally cover consecutive days; a winter hiking ticket is not a ski ticket.
  4. At Val Thorens, distinguish a local Val-Thorens–Orelle pass from a Les-3-Vallées pass. Wider coverage does not extend the connected area's season.
  5. Recheck live reports, the final accommodation transfer and equipment rules before departure. Check insurance and cancellation terms in the actual contract.

Mobile data: check your plan before comparing

Austria and France are in the EU roaming area. Eligible EU/EEA plans can use domestic conditions subject to fair-use and data limits. An extra eSIM is unnecessary if the included allowance is sufficient. Providers do not have to cover Switzerland, although some plans do.

Common questions

Do season dates guarantee snow?

No. They are announced or planned operating periods. Weather, snow and sector opening can change actual operation. Check live reports before booking and departure.

Does a wider pass cover open connections throughout the season?

Pass coverage does not establish which connections operate on your dates. For example, Val Thorens–Orelle has a longer announced season than the full Les 3 Vallées area.

Do I need a travel eSIM to ski in Austria or France?

Usually not if an eligible EU/EEA plan already includes enough EU roaming. Check fair-use and plan limits. Providers do not have to include Switzerland, so check its coverage separately.
