eSIM for the Balkans: one plan for a Western Balkans road trip

Six of the nine countries in Saily’s Balkans plan – Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo – are outside EU roaming. The other three, Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria, are EU members where an Austrian or German SIM already roams at home prices.

Who the Balkans plan is for

Montenegro and Kosovo use the euro – but not EU roaming

Paying in euros does not put a country into EU roaming. Neither Montenegro nor Kosovo is in the EU/EEA roaming area, so your EU data allowance does not apply there.

Not the same as Saily’s Europe plan

Saily’s 35-country Europe plan does not include any of the six non-EU Balkan countries. If your trip combines, say, Switzerland and Serbia, you need two plans or a global one.

Country plan or Balkans plan?

Compared with the Saily country plans TripUtils tracks (smallest plan with at least 5 or 10 GB and 30 days). In 4 of 6 countries the 5 GB country plan is cheaper than the regional plan, so the regional plan pays off mainly when you visit several countries.
